If you are trying to add calendar events to your site using Mambo, you may find that it is quite difficult. It took me a long time to figure out how to add events to my calendar on my Mambo site. Even the help file didn’t help. After playing around with it for a while, I finally figured it out. In this tutorial, I will show you how to create and add calendar events in Mambo. There may be other ways to do it, but this is the only way I could figure out how to do it and it works.
You should already have the calendar module installed and a category for the calendar events. If you do not already have that done, do it before going any further. You will need to be able to select the calendar events category when creating a new calendar event for your calendar.
How to Add a Calendar Event to your Calendar in Mambo
Login to your admin panel and click Content > All Content Items. At the top right of this page, you will need to click the New icon to create a new content item. On the next page, you will need to enter the date for the event in the title field. For example, if the event is happening on January 30, 2009, type “Calendar Event for January 30, 2009”. All of your titles should be this way. The only difference in titles is the actual date.
Choose the section of your choice. Then select the Calendar Events category. Enter your event in the Intro Text box. Now, you will need to change the options in the publishing section on the right. Click the Publish tab on the right side of your page. Where it says “Override Created Date” enter the date of the event. Where it says “Start Publishing”, enter the day of the event also. Do your metas and whatever else you normally do to a post. Then save the post.
Now you can view your calendar and you will see the day that you added the event to will be underlined. Clicking the date will show the event you listed for that particular day. You can now go back and add other events you may have.
