Inserting WordPress Graphics into a Template

When you downloaded and installed your template on WordPress, you installed the image folder. You will need to open the image folder on your computer. Find the template you downloaded and unzipped. Open the folder and in the folder, you should see the images folder. It will say images or imgs. When you open the folder, you will see the different image files in the folder. You can change the view of the files to thumbnails so you can see what you are looking at. In the images folder, you will see the background image, header image, footer image, and other images. These are the images you can edit.

Open the graphics editor program that you plan to use. Once the editor is loaded, click File > Open. Navigate to the template folder and double click the image file you want to open. The file will open in your editor. You can now add graphics to the file. Once you have the graphic or graphics added, you will need to save it. This will save you a copy that you can later edit. After you have saved the file, you will need to export it.

Export your image file as a jpeg or gif. You will need to save it as the same format as the original image. Once you click to export it, make sure the file names are the same. You will be asked if you want to overwrite the original file. Click OK or Yes to overwrite it.

Now you will need to upload the image file you edited to your WordPress site. You can upload it through your c-panel or a file manager. When you upload it, it will warn you that you are about to overwrite the file, click OK to continue. After your image file uploads, you can open your site and view the changes you have made.

You can edit any part of the template you want. You will have to repeat the steps above to edit the template further. Always keep a saved copy of your original file incase you need to make changes later. You can start from scratch with the original file.
