This tutorial is a continuation of part 1 of “How to Navigate the WordPress CMS - Manage Section”. In part two of this tutorial, we will take a look at Link Categories, Media Library, Importing, and Exporting. So, let’s pick up where we left off.
Navigating the Link Category Section
In the link category section, you can manage all of your link categories. You can also add new link categories by clicking the Add New button. Then fill in the fields for the new link category and click Add Category. To manage your link categories, you can delete them, by ticking the field and clicking the delete button. You can edit the link categories by clicking the name of the link and then editing it. Once you have finished, click the Update button to save the changes.
Navigating the Media Library Section
Any media that you upload to your WordPress site will be stored in this folder. You can delete media files by ticking the field beside the file and clicking the Delete button. To view media files, you will need to click the title of the media file. You can also edit the media files by clicking the title of the file.
Navigating the Import Section
The Import section of WordPress is where you can import posts and comments from other blogs. You will need to select the place that you want to import the posts and comments from, by clicking the name. Then the next page will tell you what you need to do in order to import the posts and comments. This is an easy way to switch your old blog to your new WordPress blog.
Navigating the Export Section
The Export section of WordPress is used to export your files in WordPress. When you choose to export the files, you are saving a copy of your site. You can import the file that you exported into another WordPress site. When you export the file, you will be exporting everything that you have on WordPress like your posts, pages, comments, categories, and links. So, if you are looking to transfer your WordPress site to another WordPress site, this is the best way to do it.
To import the old site to a new site, you will need to use the Import link that we discussed above. At the bottom of the page in the Import section, you will see the WordPress option. When you click it, it asks for you to browse for the WordPress file and upload it. That’s how you switch blogs in WordPress.
