Page Navigation in Google Sites

One of the items that may give some Google Sites users problems is in page navigation throughout their site. Users who were used to the previous Page Creator navigation system will find that when creating site navigation in the new Sites system not all commands translate the same way as they used to. Here, we are going to go over some basic ways to help you get more comfortable in creating navigation for your pages as a site owner using Google Sites.

The easiest and most reliable way to create navigation for your Sites pages is by adding a table of contents within a page. In order to create a table in Google Sites, you’ll first want to have your editor open. Click on Table from the Insert menu bar and then click Save.

This action will automatically set up a table within a page by labeling headings. Once you’ve saved the creation of the table, click the location of where you want that table to be within the page and then insert the table of contents. Keep in mind that for this to work your page must already be a completed one within your Google Sites web creation.

Open the page that you want to add links to. Click the Edit selection from the top menu bar. Next select the text that you want to add a link to, highlighting it, and then click the Link button from the top menu bar. Insert the URL information for your link and click the Save to secure your link.

You can enable links to your sub-pages on a particular page of your site for easier site navigation. In order to link to your sub-pages within a page, first open your page, and click Edit on the top menu bar. Next click on More Actions, and select Page Settings from the drop down menu that will appear.

In the drop down menu, check the box that is next to Show links to sub-pages. Once the box has been checked, click Save for the setting changes to take affect. Your page will now have the sub-pages links enabled for your site page.
