How to manage your records

Google Health is a fairly new application within the Google network. The ability to manage your personal health records in a safe and reliable way, adds to the user-friendly functionality of the free online product. There are a variety of services offered that will assist you in the process of health record management.

Review the summary of your records

The summary is located on the right side of your personal Google Health homepage. There you will find sub-category details like age, sex, height, medical conditions, allergies, procedures, test results and immunizations. Scroll your mouse over any of the categories to begin managing your profile. Here you can update your weight loss or gain, add or delete a medical condition and/or change your medications. You can also update your profile with new test results.

Transfer past paper records

You can utilize Google’s online medical sources to convert your important records onto an easily manageable form. You can choose from three online medical companies. First, click on the link and read the company's privacy policy. MediConnect Global offers a package with medical record retrieval, data mining and transmission to Google Health for $98.00. This price applies for the first 100 pages. You may purchase additional pages for a fraction of the price. They also offer billing record retrieval, starting at $98.00. Provider, cancellation and other fees may apply. MyMedicalSummary offers both emailed and mailed medical records. According to the website, prices range from $24.95 to $149.95. Unival offers several different packages ranging from $14.95 to $84.90. Choose the company that best suits your needs.

Review your medical history and link other health sites to your online profile.

For instance, take a few moments and link the American Heart Association’s website to you profile. Your heart is one of the most vital organs in your body. Take care of it.

Maintain a comprehensive, in-depth search of medical issues and concerns.

You can do this by clicking on the link that reads, “Explore online health services.” You are then guided to a page that allows you to explore medications and treatments. There, you can find out about medical news and personal content. You will be presented with a host of web links that allow you to monitor your diabetes and blood sugar, as well as view public video content on living a healthy lifestyle.

Link your medical profile to other websites.

Google Health allows you to link your personal records to other websites. In turn, these websites will send you updates and information on medical issues that match your profile. This nifty function would work nicely with a diabetic, who is interested in lowering his or her blood sugar levels.

The American Heart Association has also graciously added a heart calculator to the Google Health website. This calculator helps estimate your risks for having a heart attack or heart disease.
