Learn how to create an awesome business presentation anywhere in the world with Google Docs. Presentation is just like PowerPoint, but it's free and accessible from anywhere. All you need is a computer with internet access.
Google Docs makes it easy to create business presentations online and update them anywhere. Because Google Docs is web-based, all you need to access your files is your Google account and a computer with internet access. In fact, you can use Docs to collaborate with colleagues in real time to create the presentation you need. Here is what you need to know.
Go to docs.google.com. If you don't already have an account, you'll need to set it up. For instructions on how to do this, read Google Docs: Creating an Account. After you've signed in, click New in the menu bar, and select Presentation.
This will open up a new window with your untitled presentation screen.
To create an effective business presentation with Google Docs, you'll need to condense your information into easy-digestible phrases across several slides. Less is always more in slide show presentation. Go for a simple text. Black and white is the best way to go, when creating a business presentation. Having too many colors can confuse your audience, and may not present a professional look.
Spruce up your presentation with images. Unlike Microsoft Office's PowerPoint, you don't have access to a huge library of clip art. To get over this obstacle, sign up at a stock image site that provides royalty-free images. A great free site to use is Stock.Xchng. To insert images into your Presentation, click Insert --> Image. You can choose to upload from your computer or enter a URL.
After inserting the image, you can change its location by right-clicking on the image and sending to the back. You can also alter the scale of the image. Create text boxes to effectively present your message. To create a text box, click Insert --> Text, and start typing. Next, you'll want to change your background from the stark white to a more soothing color or image. Right click the background, and select Change Background. You can keep this same background for all slides.
You can choose themes or make you own. To choose from preset themes, go to Edit --> Change Theme. You'll be given several background themes. Stay away from themes if you're interested in creating a unique presentation, because your audience has probably seen all these themes before.
Create more slides by selecting Slide from the menu bar. You can duplicate the slide, or create a new one. After you select, you will be taken to the new slide. Toggle back and forth by clicking the slides from left-hand menu bar.
Insert You Tube videos in the slide. Go to Insert --> Video, and you can enter in the keyword to call up the video you need. The video will insert into your slide, and you can even play it while editing your slide.
After you've finished your presentation, be sure to save it, and then view it. You will be given a URL to share the presentation with others, and will be able to see who's watching the presentation in real time. You can also share editing rights with colleagues by clicking the Share button at the top right of the presentation. Enjoy!
