Fixing Google Web Alert Email: Gmail Loading Problems Explained
Google Gmail is one of the free and popular email providers that help in communicating to friends, family and colleagues. We can access Gmail messages using e-mail clients and browsers. In some cases, a Google web alert on email Gmail loading error or status message will occur. The next section of this article will discuss the cause and possible fixes or work-around when loading Gmail in browser is not functioning correctly.
Problem Loading Gmail on Login
When you try to login to Gmail account using a browser, you may see the following problem or status and error messages:
- Oops 009.
- Inbox won't load.
The first issue is a known problem in using Gmail with Internet Explorer and Firefox. If you are using Firefox and Megaupload add-in, you should disable said Firefox extension. Internet Explorer users may try using another browser until the Google Gmail team provides a fix.
If Gmail inbox won't load after the successful login, but the browser is stuck with the "Loading..." status message in Gmail, you should try the work-around by using Gmail old version or the basic HTML view of Gmail.
Gmail Message Won't Load
Another known issue is that the Google alert email causes Gmail to hang when opening messages. This problem is also a known issue and the only work-around is to try clearing the temporary Internet files, browser cache and Internet cookies, or use the basic HTML view of Gmail.
Buzz is a service integrated with Gmail that also experiences the web alert message when the user clicks on "Load more" link. What happens is that the load more link will not respond or nothing is displayed. The possible fix is to also clear temporary Internet files, browsing history and cookies.
McAfee SiteAdvisor for Chrome and Gmail
There are reports that users of McAfee SiteAdvisor will experience problems in using Gmail when accessing using Google Chrome and SiteAdvisor extension. The work-around is this problem is to add Gmail URL addresses in Trusted sites setting in SiteAdvisor:
Open SiteAdvisor options and click Trusted sites at the left pane.
Add https://mail.google.com and http://mail.google.com
Click Save button and try accessing Gmail account again.
If the above solution will not help, you need to disable SiteAdvisor extension in Chrome browser or access only the basic HTML view of Gmail. You can also try disabling the use https in Gmail when using SiteAdvisor:
Open Gmail settings and then locate Browser Connection setting.
Select Don't always use https.
Sign-out to Gmail and then access it using non-secure protocol, http://mail.google.com
Note that using a non-secure protocol is not recommended. Use only the said work-around if you prefer keeping SiteAdvisor extension in Chrome browser. Another work-around is to continue using https:// access for Gmail but using Internet Explorer or Firefox browsers.
