As a subscriber to Gourmet magazine for 10 years, I'm more than a little bummed about this. If you loved food and travel, you couldn't help but love Gourmet. I really liked their Quick Kitchen feature, after being sick of take out gourmet (usually a signature sandwich at McDonald's) after a long day of work.
I think much bigger forces are at work in the magazine industry, more than the fact that a writer missed this author's favorite hotdog vendor (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/maria-rodale/goodbye-gourmet-magazine_b_312185.html)
You can't look at the quality of the editorial and content in that magazine and point to that as a reason why this magazine has failed.
If anyone has any insight to this, please share!
