Thinking about trying Twitter

RSS

Okay, so I might be one of the few tech writers not using twitter. i don't see the point, or haven't until recently. I hear about how people network and publicize themselves on twitter. Is it worth twittering links to my articles at Bright Hub, MyMac.com, and now Hubfolio?? I am a freelance illustrator/cartoonist. Will using twitter help me get clients and jobs?I don't know.

I have a twitter account. The only reason I signed up was to get additional software through MacHeist (what were those colored teams about anyway?).

Show should I start using twitter? I don't know. What do you think?

RE: Thinking about trying Twitter
I have an account, but not sure how to use it to network for illustration jobs. Still only used it to enter contests and stuff. Have to figure this thing out.

Facebook
I haven't joined facebook either, and have no plans to . I figure that is what I have a website for! Still wavering on Twitter, but I will check out the article and see if it persuades me.

RE: Thinking about trying Twitter
Like you, I have yet to jump on the Twitter wagon. I just struggle to see the benefits of it – is it really worth my time? Because I am on the computer about 45 hours a week, using social networking sites is definitely not a “for personal pleasure” thing for me. In fact, I only recently opened a Facebook account, just to get my family and friends off my back. :-p My idea of fun is not spending it on the computer. Which means if I’m going to use Twitter, it’s going to be because I think it will benefit me (as a technical writer) and the articles published within the two Bright Hub channels I manage.

With that said, I recently published an article in the Digital Photography channel on photographers and photography sites on Twitter (written by Bala, seen here: http://www.brighthub.com/multimedia/photography/articles/36980.aspx) and I must say, I’m feeling persuaded! I’m not convinced it will be all that beneficial but I suppose it’s worth a go!

I tweet!
I think that there is some benefit to using Twitter. First, I find that it helps to bring those page views up. And, the best part is that it's great for networking. So, you could feasibly connect with other artists and illustrators (and the people/companies who need them.) I say go for it. What can it hurt? :)
