Let’s try to list down all the ways you can build a bigger chest, then you decide if it’s worth the effort.

  1. Use free weights. The best kinds to use are the dumb bells. You can use tem in conjunction with other exercises like stretching or bending exercises.
  2. If you want to use the chest machines, be careful because the narrow range of the machine can cause some injuries. It also is not that advisable to use because it concentrates only one area and avoids the supporting muscles, which need equal attention. Read more about stabilizer muscles here.
  3. Try some bench exercises like the flat bench press and dumbbell flys. In any exercise, you have to always have repetition. You can vary the exercise by changing the amount of weight.
  4. Another bench exercise you can try is the incline bench press. This exercise targets your muscles to give you that V shape in your upper body.
  5. Try to maintain a standard number of sets as your starting point, and then slowly build it up as you go. Before you know it, you will be doing several dozen bench presses in one sitting.
  6. When using the dumbbell, you can either do the dumbbell fly or the incline dumbbell fly. The only difference between the two is the bench you will be using. One will be flat and the other will be angled. Then again, repeat your sets regularly. You can alternate your dumbbells, changing weights as you go along also.
  7. Try doing the incline dumbbell press as well. In all these routines, remember not to stiffen up because that will cause undue stress on your muscles. You also need to relax your joint do not lock your arms – this puts unnecessary strain on your joints which can cause injury. Keep your arms slightly bent to help you when you carry the weights. Never pick up or drop the weights because it could hurt someone, or you could pull a muscle.

Trying to build a bigger chest only requires a few things: motivation, diligence, and patience. If you can have these, even before you enter the gym, you will be able to meet your dream challenge of having a bigger chest.

It’s not all exercise. Building a bigger chest is also about diet. Make sure you eat the right food at the right times. Avoid going to the gym when you are tired and hungry. You could drop a weight or get injured if you are not alert. Good luck on reaching your goals!
