The temptation to buy fast food during travel can be strong, especially when traveling with toddlers. To avoid the fast food and keep the toddlers happy, there are many fun and healthy travel snacks that you can prepare at home.

Preparing a fun and healthy trail mix for toddlers during travel is a great idea. You can easily create a trail mix using peanuts, cashews, and almonds. You can also add baked pumpkin seeds. Add dried fruit, such as cranberries or raisins, into the trail mix for an added treat. To keep the snack fun for the kids, add a few M&M’s into the trail mix. This is a fun travel snack to take for toddlers to keep them begging for fast food.

Fresh Fruit

Toddlers often love to eat fresh fruit because it is sweet and juicy. When you are going to be traveling, pack your children’s favorite fruit to take along with you on the trip. If you children likes multiple types of fruit, you can cut the fruit into chunks and create a fruit salad. Watermelon, cantaloupe, blueberries, and grapes are great fruits to use in a fruit salad. Because the fruit is cut into easy to eat chunks, there will be little mess during the trip.

Cracker Sandwiches

To keep children occupied and satisfied while traveling you can prepare fun cracker sandwiches to take along with you. Use whole wheat crackers with a lunch meat and cheese of the children’s choice. Cut the meat and cheese to the size of the crackers. Do not assemble the cracker sandwiches. Instead, place all the ingredients into a travel container. Allow the children to assemble their own cracker sandwiches during the trip. This will not only satisfy their hunger, but keep them occupied as well.

These fun snacks are great to prepare for toddlers to eat while traveling. Because they are fun, great tasting, and will keep the children occupied, you will be less likely to be making stops for fast food.
