Plant Based Bioidentical Hormones

The rounds of HRT (hormonal replacement therapy) here in America which combined non-human estrogen and progestin did not go as well as many woman, doctors and pharmaceutical companies had hoped. The wide spread use of HRT brought on cases of women developing and or having a higher risk of stroke, blood clots, heart disease and breast cancer. Many HRT trails were stopped back in 2002 due to the increased risks.

The above problems of HRT is the reason that bioidentical hormones were created. Bioidentical hormones are ones that are identical in molecular makeup and structure to the naturally occurring hormones that a woman's body makes on its own.Bioidentical hormones are not a naturally occurring set of hormones but are rather a synthetic recreation of human hormones that are plant based. Stemming from soy and yam chemical extracts straight from organically grown plants, they have been able to recreate the human body's estrogen and progesterone hormones.

Hormonal therapy for women using bioidentical hormones is called Natural Hormone Therapy due both the hormones being plant based and because the plant hormones act within the human body just as the bodies own created hormones do.

Currently, in America there is no combined bioidentical hormone product that can be taken. The FDA will not approve a combined bioidentical product and in order to get prescribed both the estrogen and progesterone bioidentical hormones you need to see a hormone specialist, normally with a referral from your GP or Gynecologist.

Menopausal relief can be had in an organic and healthy way through the use of bioidentical hormones. Widespread success stories and usage have spread through America due to Oprah Winfrey's support of bioidentical compounds. Oprah has publicly discussed what using bioidentical hormones have felt like and what they have done for her health through her O magazine and her talk show.
