There are tons of fat-burning nutrients in dairy products. Any well-planned diet program suggests a serving of diary at least twice a day. Nonfat and low-fat products sounds good in theory, especially when wanting to cut unnecessary fat from the diet, but it may not be as great for your weight-loss efforts as you think. While the fat is being taken out of dairy products, other vital nutrients are also being stripped away. These nutrients are key to helping the body burn fat—amongst other things.
A study was perform in Sweden that suggests that two servings of dairy (full fat) helps combat the weight gain women experiences as they grow older. As a matter of fact, the participants of the study gained up to 30% less weight than participants who didn’t have the dairy. “Milk fat is among the richest natural source of conjugated linoleic acid, which blocks fat from entering body cells,” say Dr. Fred Pescator, M.D., author of “The Hamptons Diet”.
Other than the weight-loss aspects, partaking in full-fat dairy has many advantages. Full-fat diary releases sugar into the blood at a much slower rate than the ones where the fat was removed. This results in less cortisol and insulin spiking in the body. The benefits to this are more stable moods and sunnier dispositions.
Did you know that full-fat dairy can also lower the risk of some cancers? The fatty acids found in whole milk have been proven to drop the risk of women getting colorectal cancer by a whopping 13% per each two servings.
So, when looking for ways to cut fat out of the diet, don’t let it be from your dairy intake. Other areas to cut out fat are by cutting down on carbohydrates, sweets and processed foods. Use olive oil and vinegars instead of salad dressing. Switch to whole wheat products instead of those made from white refined flour.
