Need Proof?
A new book written by registered dieticians Shara Aaron and Monica Bearden called Chocolate – A Healthy Passion is full of reasons why you should consume chocolate regularly. But, before you start munching away on all that chocolately goodness, make sure to read the following chocolate guidelines.
As the book states, the type of chocolate that you choose really does matter. The kind of chocolate that is packed with peanuts and caramel is not the kind of chocolate that you should be eating on a daily basis. Instead, pure chocolate (or, as pure as you can tolerate) is the best course of action.
For centuries now chocolate has been considered a sort of healing food, but we never really had proof of this until very recently. Chocolate has been proven to lower blood pressure, improve cardiovascular health, help with blood pressure issues, increase blood flow, promote cognition, and enhance skin health.
Additionally, chocolate is a powerful antioxidant that actually contains more helpful antioxidants than one cup of blueberries. Two tablespoons of natural cocoa seems to be better for you than even a large helping of green tea – imagine that!
What Else?
Chocolate may also be helpful to your teeth. That’s right, your teeth. Even though many people believe that chocolate can harm teeth, this is simply not the case. A new study conducted by the University of Osaka Graduate School of Dentistry has found that rinsing with a chocolate extract actually reduces bacteria.
Still, before you head out to rinse with hot chocolate, just remember that the book mentioned above contains numerous helpful details about what to do to increase your chocolate intake… and it also tells you what not to do in case you are tempted to dip all your vegetables in chocolate.
Chocolate—A Healthy Passion is a book that every chocolate lover must flip through. This book contains all the reasons why it’s OK to love chocolate. Of course, the best part of this new book is that those that can’t stop eating chocolate now have a reason why their choice of sweet is actually good for them.
So, all of you chocoholics out there, you now have a reason (as if you ever really needed one) to consume as much chocolate as you like. Just make sure that the type of chocolate you choose will actually benefit your health.
