8 Weeks To Optimum Health is yet another astounding book by alternative medicine guru, Dr. Andrew Weil. In 8 Weeks To Optimum Health, he takes his bestselling book Spontaneous Healing, one step further to actually devise an eight week program for healthy living. The detailed step by step program was created by Dr. Weil to get and keep your body's own natural healing processes to work most efficiently.

The Optimum Health Program

The program was designed to prevent illness by incorporating better eating habits, exercise habits, vitamin supplements, breathing exercises, visualization and other types of therapy. 8 Weeks To Optimum Health begins by explaining that it is possible for anyone to change their lifestyle and gives an overview of how the body works. Dr. Andrew Weil explains why he suggests eight weeks to build a strong foundation of good health. The book is littered throughtout with real life examples that clearly support his points.

Dr. Weil goes through each of the eight weeks in detail with projects to do, diet changes to implement and specific exercises to do and supplements to take. He includes ideas for increasing your spiritual well being as well and explains thoroughly why following his plan will work. Wonderful recipes are sprinkled throughout the sections to assist you in making the necessary dietary changes.

As you progress through each week he also offers optional things that you can do for an additional boost. For example, in week six he offers as an option to do a one day juice fast to give your disgestive system a little break.

8 Weeks To Optimum Health continues by giving you a specific list of what to do following week eight to maintain your improved health.

The last part of the book offers detailed, customized plans especially geared towards people over 50, over 70, under 20, for men, for women, pregnant women, parents of young children, living in big cities, frequent travelers, the overweight, those at risk for cardiovascular disease or at risk for cancer. He also includes information for finding the supplies he mentions in the book to follow his plan.
