This is a comprehensive article which distinguishes the differences between a naturopath and a homeopath.

What is a Naturopath?

A naturopath is a doctor or practitioner of medicine that uses the powers of nature to treat conditions. The types of medical practices offered by a naturopath are all within the scope of complementary medicine. They do not use drugs or surgeries. Simply put, only natural elements such as herbs along with treatment options such as massage and acupressure sessions are practiced.

By using lifestyle changes to benefit the body, holistic nutrition, herbal remedies and the like the body is returned to health so it can combat the conditions that are plaguing it. It is a way for the human body to become strong enough to eliminate the causes of the issues rather than masking the symptoms.

What is a Homeopath?

A homeopath is a medical practitioner that deals exclusively to the laws of similars. For people who are not familiar with this term here is how it breaks down: herbs in massive doses may promote certain symptoms in a healthy body. This is usually due to a level of toxicity. So, in a person that, for whatever the reason, is experiencing specific symptoms, a plant or herb can be given and it will have the opposite effect and return them to normal.

It is important that to realize from the start that homeopathic remedies involve using small trace amounts of the actual plants so there is no harm to the person. This allows for enough for the brain to pick up on it and reverse the symptoms but not enough of the original properties to cause danger. Therefore homeopathic experts should be carefully chosen based on experience and education.

What’s the Difference?

The answer to the question: is a naturopath the same as a homeopath? No. Naturopaths deal with a wide variety of natural options of treatment while a homeopath is exclusive to homeopathic remedies (the laws of similars). Naturopaths will sometimes use homeopathic options in their treatment methods but the general idea is that they have a lot to choose from while homeopathic experts are restricted to their methodology.
