Zinc, 15-30 mg a day, can help reduce sweating and eliminate foot odor within a few weeks. Wheat germ, lean beef, shell fish, and legumes are foods high in zinc.
Chlorophyll is nature's deodorizer. It can fight foot odor by purifying the body. Foods high in chlorophyll include wheat grass, spinach, and other green leafy vegetables.
Foot Odor Remedies - External
Tea tree oil is effective against bacteria. To stop foot odor, add about 40 drops of tea tree oil in a basin of water and soak your feet for 10 minutes.
Epsom salt can reduce moisture which contributes to foot odor. Add 1/2 cup of Epsom salt to a basin of water and soak your feet for 15-20 minutes. Afterwards, let them air-dry.
Apple cider vinegar can reduce the pH of your skin. This stops foot odor because bacteria can not thrive in areas with low pH. Soak your feet in equal parts of water and vinegar for 15 minutes.
Black tea contains tannins and can help foot odor by killing bacteria and closing pores. Prepare 2 strong cups of black tea and pour into a basin of water. Soak your feet for 10 minutes.
Baking soda kills bacteria and absorbs moisture. Stop foot odor by sprinkling some baking soda in your shoes.
Foot Odor Remedies - Other
- Keep your feet clean and dry. Scrub them good when bathing. Afterwards, dry them thoroughly.
- Alternate shoes to give them a chance to dry out.
- Wear cotton socks or smart wool socks to help prevent foot odor.
