Healing Headaches Naturally: Relieve Your Headache Pain

Headaches can be debilitating. Medication may help temporarily, but relieving headaches naturally can help prevent future headaches. This eliminates the need for pills, and helps us understand why the headaches are there in the first place. Find out about natural pain relief for headaches.

Stress Headaches:

Many headaches are caused from stress. Stress can cause us to clench our teeth, tense our muscles, and grind teeth in our sleep. These actions can result in a headache. By reducing stress we can prevent some of our headaches from occurring.

Prevent Headaches:

In order to prevent headaches we must understand what causes them. (Stress has its own category above). Caffeine withdrawal, not sleeping well, hunger, sinus problems, and genetics can cause headaches. We have no control over genetics, so if your mom or grandmother was a headache sufferer, you might be too. Make sure you sleep well, eat well, and reduce sinus problems.

Peppermint:

Relieve your headache pain naturally with peppermint. Relax with a peppermint tea, peppermint oil, or a peppermint diffuser. Natural peppermint can be natural pain relief for headaches. Keeping a diffuser with peppermint oil around can help reduce migraines and tension headaches.

Oregano:

Oregano and lavender can help both off natural pain relief for sinus headaches. Ask your partner (or masseuse) to massage you with oregano oil and lavender oil.

Nose Cleansing:

A saline solution for your nose can help relieve sinus headache pain naturally. You can find a netti pot or nasal irrigation kit online or in your local pharmacy. You can also make your own if you like. Use warm water and salt. Put this mixture into a bulb syringe and squirt it into your nostril. Do not sniff. Lean forward over a sink and allow the saline solution to drain out of your nose. This will clean out your nose and help relieve pressure.

Rub It:

A head massage can help you relieve headaches naturally. You can do it yourself, have your partner massage your head, or go to a professional masseuse. Start at the back of your head just above your neck and keep massaging upwards. Massaging the temples can help as well. Acupressure has also been shown to be a good treatment for headaches and migraine pain.

 

Reflexology:

Use reflexology techniques on your toes for natural headache relief. There are reflexes in your toes that can help with headaches. You can see a reflexologist or try it yourself. Rub your toes with your thumbs. Make sure you get all sides of your toes in order to get your reflexes.

Minerals:

Make sure you are getting enough magnesium and calcium. Doctors have found that a magnesium injection has helped migraine sufferers. Those that do not see a change with that do well with an injection of magnesium and calcium. Some migraine sufferers need more calcium and/or magnesium than others. You could get a prescription version of vitamin D that contains calcium and cholecalciferol. Make sure you talk to your doctor about this treatment.
