Aging skin is caused by the genes we inherit (intrinsic aging) and by environmental factors (extrinsic aging).
As the body ages, the skin undergoes normal changes. It loses its elasticity and holds in less moisture causing the skin to become dry and wrinkled.
• Drink 6-8 glasses of water every day to keep your skin well hydrated.
• Eat properly. Include plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables.
• Exercise regularly to tone your muscles and improve blood circulation.
• Avoid too much sun. A little exposure each day is good for your body but too much can cause aging skin prematurely and can greatly increase your risk of skin cancer. Tanning beds and sunlamps should also be avoided.
• Use a good moisturizer in low temperatures and cold winds. Both can dry your skin.
• Don't smoke. Smoking depletes your body of vitamin C. Vitamin C is needed to maintain healthy skin.
• Avoid excessive alcohol. Alcohol damages small blood vessels at the skin's surface and contributes to aging skin.
• Get 7-8 hours of sleep every night. Sleeping on your back is best in preventing wrinkles on your face. Sleeping on your stomach or your sides can increase wrinkles because your face is pressed against the pillow.

• Use virgin coconut oil as a moisturizer. Coconut oil holds in moisture and helps protect your skin.
• The natural oil in avocado is great for dry skin. Take the inside of the avocado skin and massage your skin with it.
• Rub the core of a pineapple on your skin and leave it on for 15 minutes. This will help remove early signs of wrinkles.
• Puncture a vitamin E capsule and rub the oily substance on your skin to slow down the aging process.
• Aloe vera removes dead skin cells and purifies the pores.
• Wheat germ oil is another natural remedy for aging skin by promoting skin elasticity.
• Slice a lemon and rub it on your skin to lighten age spots.
• Cut 2-3 carrots (rich in vitamin A) in 1-inch pieces and cook them in water until they become slightly soft. Place the carrots in a blender and puree. Massage the puree over your skin and leave it on for 20 minutes to smooth out wrinkles and improve skin elasticity.
• Puree 4 strawberries, 2 tablespoons of plain yogurt, and 1 tablespoon of lemon juice. Apply the puree to your skin and leave it on for 20 minutes to help prevent fine lines. All ingredients are excellent natural remedies for aging skin.
