The World Wildlife Fund (WWF) is an international organization that raises funds to support research on threatened species and habitats around the world to help scientists gain further insight and better understand the causes of species decline or habitat deterioration.
WWF recognizes that habitat deterioration is an important factor affecting the rate of decline for many endangered species, and consequently also funds ecological projects, often working with affected local communities, to help restore impacted ecosystems in order to slow, halt or reverse the rate of decline of threatened species. The WWF also sponsors advertising and educational campaigns to create awareness of the plight of threatened habitats and species, and to draw attention to environmental issues facing our planet.
The featured articles within this guide refer to studies conducted by the WWF, providing an overview of the work that the World Wildlife Fund does to mitigate the threats to endangered habitats and species globally, and looks at some of the educational initiatives they undertake to educate people about environmental issues.
