They take the learning one step further by requiring students to incorporate what they know while developing essential problem-solving skills. Teachers, parents and students alike can use this resource guide at home or in the classroom. Sometimes referred to as "story problems," math word problems are an effective tool for providing practice of learned math concepts, as well as offering the opportunity for students to demonstrate their thinking and problem-solving processes. These problems are also an easy way to differentiate learning. Using the same word problems within the same classroom, but with different sets of numbers, makes it easy to accommodate for different leaning styles and abilities.
