Windows Millennium Edition, or ME for short, is the last in a line of operating systems released by Microsoft that started with Windows 95. It was released in 2000, but was soon superseded by Windows XP which was released the next year. Windows ME is no longer supported by Microsoft.
When it was released, Windows ME introduced a number of new features such as improved networking, universal plug and play, a DVD player, multiplayer card and board games, a number of system protection utilities, integrated image preview, movie making software and more. Windows ME required a Pentium 150 MHz, 320 MB of hard disk space and 32 MB of RAM.
