VirtualBox is a software application released by Sun Microsystems, now part of Oracle, that provides a virtual x86 environment. This allows you to run multiple instances of entire operating systems such as Linux, Windows, MacOS and OS/2 within VirtualBox on a single PC. VirtualBox is freely available for Windows, Linux, MacOS and Solaris, and its source code has been released under the GPL. It is quite often compared to VMWare and Virtual PC.
This guide shows you how to install VirtualBox, how to connect remotely, and how VirtualBox can be used to run Windows only software under Linux.
