At some time or another in our personal or business lives we are going to deal with something that is handled by the Department of Health and Human Services. This can be as simple as requiring information about medical insurance or understanding our rights under HIPPA laws.

About the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services

HHS SealMany of us have dealt with or will deal with various agencies supported by the US Department of Health and Human Services. If you have signed a HIPPA (health information patient privacy act) document at a doctor's office, have received a vaccine or have applied for medical assistance of any time, chances are it is because of the programs that are offered through this department. In addition to patient education, they also help provide grants through the National Institutes of Health (NIH) for medical research of all types. Other programs include child welfare programs, child support enforcement programs and resources for consumers including food and nutrition information.
