Remote Control and Television Credit Graur Razvan IonutThe Today Show first aired on January 14, 1952, meaning it has been on the air continuously for 59 years. Dave Garroway was the first Today Show host who interacted with J. Fred Muggs, who was the show’s mascot.

The show is filmed in the Rockefeller Center in Studio 1A with current hosts Matt Lauer, Meredith Vieira, Ann Curry, Natalie Morales and Al Roker. Among past hosts are Deborah Norville, Tom Brokaw, Bryant Gumbel, Jane Pauley, Barbara Walters, Hugh Downs and Floyd Kalber. Willard Scott was the weather caster; he still appears at least once a week, with the 100th birthday announcements. When the Today Show first began airing, it ran for two hours.
