text box imageA text box is an element within a graphical user interface (GUI) that is used to enter text. A text box is also sometime known as a text field or a text entry field. Text boxes can be used to enter a sinlge line or multiple lines of text. Advanced versions, like a rich text box, can be used to display additional formatting such as different fonts, font sizes, colors and effects like bold and underlined text.
