Your Guide to Screen Savers

FlyingToastersScreen Savers were initially created to prevent an image from being burnt into a CRT or plasma display. The popularity of LCD displays these days, coupled with the fact that they are not prone to the same burn in issues as older monitors, means that today, screen savers are used mostly for entertainment and security.

Screen Savers can display anything from a simple black screen, spinning text, and star fields to complex 3D animations. Many can be downloaded for free from various web sites, and operating systems like Windows, Linux and MacOS include a large selection of screen savers for you to choose from.

This guide shows you how to use and configure screen savers, as well as using some of their security features.
