Sam’s Club (operated by Wal-Mart corporate) is a members-only warehouse shopping experience. Each store stocks both general merchandise, such as grocery items, electronics, photo, optical, pets, toys, books and music, appliances, fitness and sports and pharmacies.
Because Sam’s Club is a membership-only, you pay $40 for an individual membership and $35 for business. When you apply and pay the membership fee, you receive a membership card with your photo on the back.
Sam’s Club opened its first warehouse store in Midwest City, Oklahoma in 1983. The typical warehouse store spans 132,000 square feet and offers employment to about 175 store associates. The corporation operates and manages 609 stores across the country, and more than 100 warehouse stores in Puerto Rico, Mexico, China and Brazil.
