Leases are the agreements between a property owner and the person who plans to live in the property. For these agreements to be in effect, they must be signed by both parties. There are also implied rental agreements that may be utilized in situations where both the landlord and the tenant agree that the renter will be a "tenant at will". While this type of an agreement is not always beneficial (to either party) it may be an acceptable risk for both parties. Understanding the various legal ramifications of leased or rented property requires reading and understanding rental agreements. Renters should make themselves aware of their individual rights in their state to make sure that the lease does not impose additional restrictions that are not allowed by law.
