Your Computer's Recycle Bin

Recycle Bin LogoThe recycle bin is a common tool provided by an operating system as a way of deleting and recovering files. Typically when a file is deleted it will be placed in the recycle bin. The recycle bin can then be emptied, deleting the files for good, or the files can be recovered, or undeleted, from the recycle bin.

In some operating systems, like Windows, there are some restrictions as to what will be placed in the recycle bin. As an example files deleted from network and external drives are not placed in the recycle bin.

This guide shows you how to recover deleted files from the recycle bin, as well as reviewing a number of 3rd party products that allow you to recover deleted files.
