Poet's Guide: A Celebration

Gaelic PoetThere is no better way to interest students in poetry than by a celebration of poets. This guide allows research into the lives of poets, analysis of their poetry as well as a glimpse into the history surrounding the poets, thereby enabling students to grasp better the meaning of individual poems. Poets, after all, are the writers who bring the thoughts, fears, and understandings that exist deep within humans to life through words assembled in ways that give universal meaning. Frost's Mending Wall can touch the heart of a farmer in South Africa as much as that of the die-hard New Englander. As Shelley wrote, "Poets are the unacknowledged legislators of the world."
