The Complete Guide to Podcasts

podcast logoPodcasts are a collection of audio and video files from a particular series, such as a radio program or weekly interview, that are updated and made accessible over the internet. Podcasts work in the same way as RSS or Atom feeds, except that instead of pointing to a new web page, podcasts point to a media file. These media files are then downloaded by a podcatcher like iTunes.

Despite the name, podcasts have no specific relation to the Apple iPod.

This guide provides an overview of podcasts, how and why they are used, and shows you how to download and listen to podcasts.
