Pizza Hut was founded in 1958 by Dan and Frank Carney, two brothers living in Wichita, Kansas. With a loan of $800, the brothers rented a building in Wichita, remodeled it and took on a third partner. The franchise went public in 1972--”PIZ” on the New York Stock Exchange ticker.
The corporation is not afraid of experimenting and introducing new menu items. If one does not become popular, it is discontinued. Some of these items include the “Stuffed Crust” pizza, “The Edge” pizza, “Dippin’ Strips” pizza, the P’Zone, Cheesy Bites pizza, a Double Deep pizza and the Priazzo. Lunchtime diners can order a Personal Pan pizza, a mini pizza cut into four pieces. They are able to choose between a pepperoni or a supreme personal pan.
