OpenOffice.org (sometimes abbreviated as OOo) is a free and open source office suite that is available for most major operating systems like Windows, MacOS and Linux. It is compatible with Microsoft Office, and also supports the OpenDocument Format (ODF). Open Office was originally based on StarOffice, now owned by Sun Microsystems.
Open Office includes a number of applications including a word processor called Writer, a spreadsheet called Calc, a presentation program called Impress, a database system called Base, a graphics editor called Draw and a mathematical formula creator called Math.
