It is more powerful than a CT Scan or an x-ray because it can provide better contrast of how an internal organ looks. When using an mri scan, a physician can diagnosis medical conditions such as cancer or view abnormal brain activity. The magnetic resonance imaging machine uses a magnetic field to view and define the structure of organs such as the heart or brain. It can also be used to view the integrity of the bones, nerves and joints.
