Internet Explorer 5 is a web browser released by Microsoft in 1999. It was available for Windows, MacOS and Unix, although versions of windows after XP are not supported. Internet Explorer 5 was included with Windows 98 SE and Windows ME. Internet Explorer 5 was the first version of the browser to include the XMLHttpRequest object, which today forms the basis of AJAX, which allows parts of a web page to be dynamically updated without reloading the whole page.
Internet Explorer 5 is no longer available from Microsoft, but it can still be found on a number of third party sites.
