Graphics Card Guide

Graphics CardA graphics card is the PC hardware component whose function is to render images to your screen along with 2D and 3D acceleration. Modern cards often additionally include TV output, TV-tuner adapter and multi-monitor ports.

The graphics card is usually attached to computer motherboard by means of an AGP, PCI or PCI express slot, yet legacy and budget PCs as well as laptops may have the video card integrated in the mainboard.

The two most important components of a graphics cards are a specialized processor called a graphics processing unit, and video memory. Vendors of quality and mass market cards include ATI, Nvidia and Intel for example.
