Google's Gmail has come a long way since its debut in 2004. It has over 175 million users currently and is rapidly closing in on the 200 million mark. Gmail's success has been driven by the relative simplicity, the low price (free!!!) and the great web interface. It was the first web email client that was strong enough to make traditional email clients seem unnecessary. Today's Gmail includes a wide variety of features including search functions, full implementation of categories and folders, and excellent anti-spam protection. It also provides an amazing about of storage space (now over 7GB, ahead of Gmail's competitors).
