Guide to Healthy Eating Habits

Burger and Soda Credit digitalartThink about the healthy and unhealthy foods you like to eat. You don’t need to completely stop eating the unhealthy food choices--instead, you just need to start eating these foods in smaller quantities, less often.

Whether it’s a huge serving of Haagen-Daz chocolate ice cream or bacon and eggs every morning of the week, you can still enjoy them. Just practice portion control and start eating other, healthier breakfast choices and you’re on your way to a healthier diet.

It is important to eat a healthy diet so your body is healthy and can withstand germs and illness better. Thinking down the road, it’s just as important to eat a healthy salad sprinkled with low-fat cheese, sunflower seeds, dried cranberries or feta cheese as it is to nosh on that fat-laden double cheeseburger. On second thought, maybe you should make the double cheeseburger a rare treat. When you’re hungry and you can’t stop thinking about the candy bars in the vending machine down the hall, start thinking of a cup of low-fat yogurt or a serving of trail mix with mixed, unsalted nuts, raisins or cranberries or possibly some grated coconut. That is much healthier and you’ll maintain the energy for a longer time. Read our Bright Hub Guides for more healthy eating ideas.
