In e-commerce, goods and services are being bought and sold over the Internet and computer networks. Customers can put items in shopping carts and then proceed to payment all online, without a need for visiting a bricks and mortar store.
Electronic commerce, or e-commerce for short, is usually divided into the B2B, B2C and the C2C segment. In business-to-business both the buyer and the seller are companies, whereas in business-to-consumers e-commerce a transaction occurs between customers and a company, such as when you buy goods from Amazon for example. In C2C e-commerce, e.g. eBay, goods and services are being traded between private customers, yet the line between B2C and C2C are sometimes blurring.
