Guide to Data Processing

Data processing involves taking raw data from a variety of input sources and using programs to transform it into usable information. There are a variety of tools that a computer uses for that task. This includes spreadsheets, databases and specialized computer programs using programming languages like C# or Visual Basic. Some of the tools are standalone, which means that they can run independent of other operations or computers. However, others are network based in a client-server relationship.

Nevertheless, data processing is what running a computer is all about; whether it is business, education, research, or entertainment related.
