Action adventure games combine elements of the action game genre and the adventure game genre. Adventure games are similar to roleplaying games, except that the characters do not get more powerful as the game goes on. They tend to be puzzle oriented and require more use of the mind than use of the hands. Action games are similar in content, but they are more likely to require use of the directional pad.
The overall goals are the same: solve puzzles and defeat the bad guy. It is just that death is less likely for characters in adventure games. Explore any type of action adventure game in our guide.
