Montana Energy Corps places Americorps volunteers throughout Montana to build green energy community options. Montana Energy Corps volunteers gain real time experience that prepares them for green industries after the volunteer commitment is fulfilled. Typical Montana Energy Corps role include development of green demonstrations for training models across Montana. Volunteers recruit community members and train them to move forward once volunteers leave project sites.
Chippewa Cree Tribe
Americorps/Montana Energy Corps volunteers work to build sustainable energy models with the Chippewa Cree Tribe in Box Elder, Montana. Objectives include, but are not limited to, helping develop a strategic energy plan for the Chippewa Cree Tribe, assessing existing community energy facilities, and raising community awareness through a series of town hall meetings in Box Elder. Education at the secondary level is a promising aspect of Montana Energy Corps' presence to the Chippewa Cree Tribe. Volunteers coordinate local high schools with construction coompanies and the Housing Authority to build green energy awareness in the next generation. Blackfoot Community College
The Montana Energy Corps works directly with the Blackfoot Community College in Browning, Montana. Specific project goals for the Blackfoot Community College are inspiring and practical. Volunteers learn how to service wind turbines in the Browning area. Volunteers learn from certified wind turbine technicians. Montana Energy Corps volunteers help the community college develop curriculum for energy courses. Energy audits of area homes help citizens implement energy efficient efforts in low income housing. When volunteers complete their terms of service, they have received first-hand wind turbine and curriculum development experience to drive their careers and comunities forward.
