The Foogo Straw Bottle is a quality product that has performed well over the last two years of use. The product claims to be leak-proof, although I have experienced the occasional drip from the straw. If I double check and adjust the connections between the straw, the valve plate, and the lid the leaking stops.
Foogo containers need to be hand washed after each use (the Thermos company does not recommend using the dishwasher, but if you must be sure to use the top rack only). I don't mind hand washing the straw bottle, though I have occasionally ran it through the dishwasher. Fully disassembled, the straw bottle consists of five parts. The straw and the mouthpiece can be challenging to scrub clean, but you can use a pipe cleaner or other tool to scrub inside them.
I am always impressed at how long the contents of the bottle stay cool. If you store the cup between uses in the refrigerator the contents will stay cool even longer. Although I can't vouch for how long milk stays fresh, I know that my daughter's juice or tea will stay cool for hours.
Over the last two yeard of regular use, the straw bottle has sustained some minor damage. The plastic ring around the bottom of the cup broke once when my daughter dropped it. Luckily, the damage was only cosmetic.
Leave it to me, though, to unknowingly lose the plastic valve piece of the cup down the garbage disposal. I turned the disposal on and (oh, no!) the resulting plastic shards left the Foogo unusable. I was thrilled to discover that replacement straw units are available for only $1.00 each by calling Thermos Customer Service (1-800-831-9242).
You can find the Foogo Straw Bottle online at many retailers (including Amazon and Target) for around $17.00. Knowing it is BPA-free and safe for my child, I think it is an essential buy to reduce the waste associated with ever-popular juice boxes.
