Del Forte Denim, is a line of designer organic jeans founded by Tierra Del Forte. Del Forte got her career in denim approximately a decade ago working in the junior denim department. One of the key features of her job was that she got to a circuit around various denim manufacturing plants around the world. Seeing what truly went on behind closed doors in most of the manufacturing plants, made Del Forte open her eyes as to what her beloved job was really doing to the world.
“I used to travel to China, the environmental impact over there is so much more visible because there aren’t the same kinds of rules and regulations as there are here in America. You can just see the indigo sort of run off into the rivers surrounding all of these villages and factories”, say Del Forte in an interview. Seeing what a negative effect non organic clothing can have on the environment, inspired Del Forte to quit her day job and start an organic Jean’s company of her own. In all of her denim creations, Del Forte uses certified organic cotton. Certified organic cotton is grown without the use of chemical herbicide or pesticides. The farmers use other methods of keeping the cotton in tip top shape, methods that thankfully do not harm our environment.
