Founded in 1991 by Donna Zeigfinger, Green Earth Travel, LLC is an eco-travel company with a vegetarian/vegan emphasis. The ideals behind Green Earth is to help support sustainable travel and travelers who already live a green lifestyle. The added feature of providing vegetarian and vegan geared destinations, packages and hotel stays makes Green Earth a unique travel company in a growing green travel and eco-tourism trade.
In addition to the basic green travel packages that Green Earth offers, the Animal Fundraising and Volunteer Vacations are becoming one of their more popular services. An animal volunteer vacation is one in which you work to help protect animal life in various parts of the world while being on vacation. Currently, there are four different animal vacation packages being offered:
Animal Acres Volunteer Vacation - The destination for this trip is Southern California, where you will become apart of volunteering at the Animal Sanctuary in Acton while still going sight seeing. This green travel package includes vegan meals and tickets to the Celebrity Gala dinner at the Animal Sanctuary.
Poplar Spring Animal Sanctuary - The destination for this trip is Washington D.C., the full trip compilation is being completed by Green Earth Travel and will be available soon online.
Grand Canyon Hiking - The destination for this trip is, of course, the Grand Canyon area of Arizona. On this trip you will become a volunteer at Best Friends Animal Sanctuary which is the country's largest no-kill shelter and where no pets large or small are ever turned away. Though you will have some days hiking in the Grand Canyon, on other days as a volunteer you will be shuttled to Kanab, Utah, where the animal sanctuary is located.
Love Animals, Love Yourself Animal Care Adventure Trip - The destination for this trip is in the Southern Utah area. You will be a volunteer for both the Best Friends Animal Sanctuary and Zion National Park, helping to take care of various animals from dogs, horses and even bears. Part of this trip will be dedicated to yoga, organic spa care and a bit of self pampering as well.
