Cargo is the latest high end cosmetics comany to go green. However, with Cargo's new Plant Love line the company has taken "green beauty" to a whole new level.

Cargo Plant Love Line
Cargo has created a new line of botanical lipsticks exclusive to Sephora that take “green cosmetics" to a whole new level. The packaging is made of a corn-based plastic, so it is a renewable resource. The box which contains the lipstick has flower seeds imbedded into the cardboard, so you can almost literally bury the box in the ground and water it, and wild flowers will grow. If that’s not eco friendly, I don’t know what is! Additionally, two dollars from every lipstick will be donated by Cargo to Cargo’s charity of choice, St Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. This Plant Love line is so good that it recently received the Ecocert organic certification.

Cargo Plant Love Lipstick in Mariska
The lipsticks themselves are made from such yummy ingredients as jojoba, shea butter and meadowfoam seed oil. Even better, the lipsticks contain absolutely no petroleum or mineral oils. Cargo has even brought some of Hollywood’s hippest stars into the green cosmetics industry by having them “design" the lipstick shades in the Plant Love range. Eleven lipsticks have been designed by celebrities such as Evangeline Lilly, Lindsey Lohan, Sarah Chalke and Angie Harmon. So how did I find Plant Love’s lipstick? After trying the Mariska (created by Mariska Hargitay in a warm nude cream) I liked the consistency a lot. It went on very smoothly. Some people may find that the color itself is too subtle. You would definitely have to layer the color on to create a more dramatic effect. The lipstick is a little pricey but given the fact that two dollars is going to charity and the effort they’ve put into this lipstick, I’d definitely recommend it.

Cargo Plant Love Eye Shadow in Ivy
Like the lipstick the Plant Love eye shadow is made from organic ingredients and do not contain parabens, phthalates or petrochemicals. However, in contrast to the lipstick, I found the eye shadow to be deeply pigmented which means a little can go a long way. I tried the eye shadow in Ivy and it lasted all day which I really liked. It also went on very smoothly. And in addition to being very eco-chic, the packaging was also extremely cute! I would highly recommend this eye shadow even with its $20 price tag.
