Ford KA: The Ford isn’t a new actually, and really has been around for more than a decade. The Paris Motor Show 2008 gets Ford to Unveil its 2009 Ka Update with a new Kinetic language Technology, 3 door-hatch back version, complete with rear vented windows. The Ford Ka is extremely compact, small and easy on the pocket. Engine choices are the usual 1.2 Liter Gasoline engine and the 1.3 liter Diesel power house that can produce about 68 Bhp and 78 bhp respectively. As it goes with almost all the cars in this class, you can’t expect much from the cabin-tech and the Interiors for all the cars in this category. The Ford Ka comes with buttons on wheels; an accommodation for a Bluetooth cell system; an ipod and a lot more on the inside, but just as much that could be crammed in.
Toyota iQ: Toyota’s offerings are designed to evoke envy. Already walking with a tradition of almost unfailing cars and extreme
reliability, the Toyota iQ now makes debut at the Paris Motor Show 2008. This latest Toyota’s offering also happens to be one of the shortest cars in the world and boasts of a miniature 9 ft in length. A number of experimental features have been tried out on this car -- like incorporating a flat fuel tank, for instance. It is now offered in both Diesel and gasoline versions with a 1.4 liter turbo-diesel( delivering 90 hp and 140 lb-ft of torque) and a 1-liter 3 cylinder gasoline version ( doing 68 horsepower) giving you an average of about 56 mpg. Like most hatchbacks in this range, you choose between people or luggage with their split folding rear seats.
Mitsubushi Colt: The colt comes in a new package at the Paris Motor Show 2008 with Mitsubushi finally updating the Colt and by having incorporated some design cues from the Lancer. The grille, for instance, is right out of the Lancer design book. Colt comes in two variants -- as a small 3 door hatchback or a 5 door one and spoils you with 3 engine options, the smallest being a 1.1 liter 3 cylinder doing 74 bhp and 74 lb-ft of torque. And the largest one being a 1.5 liter which gives about 108 bhp and can drag the car up to 118 mph.
Nissan Pixo: Nissan has come out giving one of the roomiest cars in this “ miniature” segment with its 5
door hatch back Nissan Pixo. Powered by a 1- liter,3 cylinder engine that can work hard to bring out about 64 bhp but delivers a whopping 62 mpg. Although, very fuel efficient, it scores way too less on the price - t0- features part since the interiors of the cars don’t justify the price tag. No navigation system, built by Suzuki for Nissan so you might come to expect the plastic feel within the car. However, the reason you are looking at these cars isn’t for luxury per se, but fuel savings. This car does its job beautifully in that department.
