There are two types of tread mills: manual treadmills and motorized treadmills. You can select any of these machines, but the motorized machine offers superior exercising experience so they are more popular than the manual machines.
Manual tread mills: The manual treadmills are light in weight and easy to fold, so they occupy less space. You can keep them at any place and also move from one place to other without any difficulty. In the manual machines the belt is wrapped around the rollers that are fitted inside the raised deck. When you stand on the belt and walk over it, friction is created between the belt and the rollers that cause the movement of the rollers. This further helps you walking or jogging though at times you may have apply more energy for the movement of the rollers. For the support side rails are provided and in front there is a raised console that supports the side rails and the platform on which the person walks.
Motorized tread mills: The motorized treadmills have the motor to move the rollers on which the walking belt is wrapped. The weight of the motor makes these mills heavier and though they can be moved from one room to the other inside your home, movement outside the home is difficult. However, with these treadmills you don’t have to put your energy for the movement of the belt on the rollers and you can walk or jog smoothly as though you were walking on the ground. The motor is multi-speed type, so you can adjust the speed to walk, jog or run as per your requirements. Even changing the speed is quite easy, as you have to just move the knob provided on the tread mill.
There are various varieties of treadmills available in the market. Some of them are very cheap and other can be very expensive depending on the quality of the machine and the features provided on it. The most important thing that you should consider while purchasing the tread mill is that you should be able to walk or jog on the machine comfortably. Exercising should be a pleasure and this is possible only if your machine is of good quality with less friction between the moving parts. If you have to put lot of energy in overcoming the friction between the moving parts, you may slowly loose interest in using the tread mill and ultimately your enthusiasm for exercising and remaining healthy will vanish.
