Now that you know what a podcast is, it’s time to figure out how to get them. gPodder is a free podcast aggregator for most operating systems, including Linux, FreeBSD, Mac OS X and Windows. It is also compatible with most types of mobile phones and MP3 players, including the iPod.
To use this system, you simply need to subscribe to the podcast that you want to listen to. You can search for podcasts using gPodder’s channel feature. With this feature, you will paste the URL for the podcast into the program.
Then, select the podcast that you wish to download to your iPod, and then press the download button. This will add these podcast to your iPod podcast list, and your iPod will treat them as standard podcasts. This also allows you to use all of the standard iPod podcast functionality, including picking up exactly where you left off if you stop the podcast and cleaning up your podcast library. It also give you the ability to sync your podcast to your iPod.
Before you can start using this program, you must download it to your computer. Just click on the Download button at the top of the website, and select your operating system. You need to sync this program with your iPod so you are going to have to plug in your iPod to your computer.
If you don’t want to sync your whole iPod, click Ctrl + Shift in Windows and CMD + Options in Mac, and hold these buttons down. Only let them go when you are sure that your iTunes is not syncing with your iPod. Then, you can manually add the gPodder program to your iPod.
